How do you make average jokes into great jokes? Deliver them with an improbably thick Hispanic accent. SNL used this formula for years with an ongoing Antonio Banderas sketch, and they've wisely returned to their old ways. This segment from last week features NBC employee "Rosa Santiago," who adds her own punchlines to the week's news, delivered with rolled "rrrrr's" and an endearing sassiness. Note to comedians: the thick accent only works as a joke-enhancer if it is clearly exaggerated, and if your jokes are actually funny to begin with. Sorry, Carlos Mencia.
